Fix the Leaking Door on Your Samsung Dishwasher
Dishwasher may leak for several reasons. Therefore, if you have noticed water under your Samsung dishwasher or even a whole puddle, leave everything behind and immediately start tackling this problem. First of all, turn off the machine and unplug the power cord.
Let’s take a look at the possible reasons why the dishwasher started to leak:
- Samsung dishwasher door leaking. It may be caused by the fact that the appliance is unbalanced, by a malfunction of the water level sensor or by a clog in the hose coming to it. The door seal may be contaminated with fat deposits which may make the door loose. In this case, you need to carefully clean the rubber seal from all contaminations. The safest way to do that is to use a silicone spatula and a piece of cloth. If the seal is damaged, it must be replaced.
- Dishwasher may leak from the bottom when it has a cracked rubber pipe or some loose connections. This happens especially often with cheap dishwashers (manufacturers save on quality materials) or with very old appliances (cracked rubber parts).
- Water may leak from the air gap of the drain valve. In fact, this is not really a “water leak”. This device is installed in the drain hose to prevent water from flowing into the sewer. Water may flow out of the vent holes if the drain hose is clogged or the hole itself is too small. But this can only happen during the drain of water from the sump.
- Water tub may crack, but this does not happen too often. However, a puddle under the dishwasher may indicate exactly this problem.
If the dishwasher is leaking, in most cases you can notice it right away. But sometimes the malfunction may not be that obvious, especially if the leakage is relatively small.
We recommend all dishwasher users to look under the dishwasher once in six months (or more often) and carefully examine the floor and cabinets in search of any leakage signs. If your Samsung dishwasher is leaking, you will spot areas of rotted floor or cabinets and you will also smell unpleasant mildew odor. There may also be some traces of dried water, and you should not ignore them either as they appeared because of water leaking from the dishwasher.
